Common use of Research and Scholarship Clause in Contracts

Research and Scholarship. The faculty member recognizes that effective research and scholarship enhances teaching and the reputation of the University and the faculty member accepts the obligation to develop, improve and demonstrate scholarly competence. Faculty members are expected to be active in research and scholarship. In the College of Professional Studies and in the University Libraries, faculty members are expected to engage in professional development, unless a faculty member in the College of Professional Studies has elected to engage in research and scholarship commensurate with faculty elsewhere at the University (see Appendix I).
