Faculty Responsibilities. 20.1.1 The primary responsibility of faculty is the pursuit, production and transfer of knowledge and understanding through an appropriate combination of Teaching & Teaching-Related Responsibilities, Professional Practice/Research, and Service. The workload of the faculty member at the University involves a synergized output and balanced contributions within the following three areas of engagement as assigned by the Xxxx of Faculty or designate in consultation with faculty and in consideration of individual faculty expertise and University needs.

Faculty Responsibilities. The principles of academic freedom shall be accompanied by corresponding principles of Faculty responsibility. While workload and additional Faculty responsibilities may be provided for elsewhere in this Agreement, the following are among the basic responsibilities of the Faculty: a. Teaching 1) Students: Students are central to the mission and very existence of the University. Their needs may vary by department and by the level of the degree program in which they are involved. Students shall receive help outside the classroom from members of the Faculty. Faculty members shall mentor students in their academic pursuits and respond to student questions about academic concerns, career possibilities, and other aspects of the student’s professional development according to the student’s needs as individuals and within the context of the program in which they are enrolled.
Faculty Responsibilities. Responsibilities of faculty members within the cohort structure include: • Determine individual professional development goals for the five-year cycle. The professional development goals are central to each faculty member’s professional development plan. Professional development goals must be linked to one or more college Core Themes. • Use data and research to inform goals and activities. • Work with their division xxxx to confirm professional development goals for the five-year cycle. • Working with their TEC cohort members, to create and implement expectations for meetings (a minimum of 2 per year), student evaluations and peer support observations visits. • Support, guide, and assist cohort members in achieving their professional development goals. • Be open to suggestions, feedback and support from cohort members regarding professional development goals.
Faculty Responsibilities. A. Each section of every course at the College, regardless of course delivery method, will have an online course shell created in the Learning Management System for Faculty use. All Faculty are expected to utilize the course shell to facilitate timely feedback and communication with students in online, Live online, hybrid, and on-campus classes. B. All distance-learning courses are expected to be loaded and published by the Faculty by no later than 8:00 a.m. on the date identified as “Classes Begin” on that semester’s Academic Calendar. C. Faculty are required to check and respond to Learning Management System course messages daily Monday through Friday and at least once over the weekend if major assignments are due that weekend. If no major tests or assignments are due over the weekend, the Faculty member is not required to check online course(s) over the weekend.
Faculty Responsibilities. It is the professional responsibility of the faculty member to conduct class according to the class schedule and to follow the course curriculum. The faculty member is required to notify the facility and Program office prior to cancellation of a class session. Except in cases of emergency, notice shall be given at least two (2) hours before the start of the class session.
Faculty Responsibilities. All bargaining unit members will abide by the reasonable rules, policies, and ethical standards of the University. 1. Tenured (Tenure-track) Instructional Faculty. These members of the bargaining unit shall be available to perform duties during the period of their contractual appointments, as defined by the Notice of Appointment. Duties are those normal duties commensurate with University teaching faculty positions, and generally include scheduled and unscheduled teaching; course and curriculum planning; provision of regularly scheduled office hours; scholarly activities; service on committees; attendance at college and program meetings, spring commencement, and fall convocation; administrative activities as required by the college, department, and/or division; academic advising of students; assistance in the admission, orientation, and registration of students; student support service activities, and participation in those activities that relate to student recruitment and retention; professionally related public service, and other duties as assigned.
Faculty Responsibilities. Faculty members assigned work experience courses are responsible for in-person consultations (at the job site) with the employer or designated representatives to discuss students’ educational growth on the job. If the worksite location is greater than fifteen (15) miles away from the College, the faculty member must verify that the worksite physically exists via website or communication with the supervisor and must provide documentation of this verification. Acceptable tools to use, in lieu of an in- person visit, for sites greater than fifteen (15) miles from the school are telephone, teleconference, email/internet, or videoconference. Faculty must also conduct a written evaluation of students’ progress in meeting the job learning objectives, consult with students in person to discuss students’ educational growth on the job, and submit a final course grade for each student by the College’s established grade submission dates.
