Role. The Department’s roles are to: • protect public health under the Public Health Act 2016 and the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1911 and other relevant legislation; • minimise human exposure to environmental health hazards that pose or have the potential to pose a health risk; and • reduce the incidence and impact of communicable disease.
