Common use of Salary Rate Upon Employment Clause in Contracts

Salary Rate Upon Employment. The hiring rate of pay for a new Employee shall not be higher than the rate of pay for an existing Employee in the same classification with similar work experience, training and education. Nothing in this Agreement shall prevent a Vocational Instructor from being hired above the Vocational Instructor's minimum rate, to a maximum of the seventh step of the range. As a result of Memorandum of Agreement #1, the provisions outlined in 26.3(a) above are only intended to be used until the Parties have completed their discussions regarding development of Initial Placement Criteria for instructors in the IETE specialization and for Employees hired into non-instructional specializations. [NOTE: All selection committees will be required to use the following BCGEU Instructor Initial Placement Criteria form when hiring Employees in the Bargaining Unit (see Memorandum of Agreement #2)].
