Shift Assignment. The Sheriff shall maintain the sole right to assign employees to each shift based on operational needs. Employees assigned to continuous operations shall be placed on permanent shifts with days off rotating every twenty-eight days according to the scheduling systems included in Appendix B. In the event a deputy is off work for any reason, the Divisional Supervisor will contact them by the phone number provided to the Office to obtain their bid. Final shift assignments will be posted by October 1. The new schedule shall normally begin in the last scheduled shift change in November, if practical; otherwise, the shift schedule will take place the first scheduled shift change in December. If a scheduling slot becomes available, other employees in the same division may bid for the vacant slot and be granted the slot based on classification seniority. No more than two slots will be affected by this bid process. The Department Head may involuntarily transfer an employee to another shift within the same division, but such transfer shall be for just cause only, subject to the scheduling systems included grievance procedure. F. No change in Appendix B. Shift Assignment. The Sheriff shall maintain Employer may designate three (3) nonbiddable Customer Service Representative positions for special and ongoing assignments. The three (3) nonbiddable positions are Lead Customer Service Representative, Customer Service Representative/Passenger Ticket Sales, and Customer Service Representative Vault Room/Miscellaneous. The selection process for the sole right nonbiddable positions will be determined through an application process with criteria determined by the employer. Lead Customer Service Representative and Customer Service Representative/Vault Room cannot take a vacation at the same time. Shift Assignment. 11.01 The Sheriff shall maintain Company and the Union agree to the principle that shift/site preference consideration for available jobs in an overtime group should be given to the senior qualified employee in each classification in the overtime group when practical. a. It is recognized that it is impossible to operate a facility efficiently with senior employees in a particular classification, in any one work center, shift, and/or location, and that seniority cannot be the sole right determining factor in shift assignments. Whenever a senior employee is denied shift/site preference, the Company will present the Chief Xxxxxxx with a reason of denial. If both parties cannot resolve or agree to assign the reason, a grievance may be filed for resolution. b. The Company will post a shift/site preference sheet at least two weeks prior to January 1 and July 1, each calendar year. Efficiency permitting, senior qualified employees to each shift based on operational needsshall have preference for the available openings in their classification.
