Shift Work. When so elected The following conditions shall apply to shift work:
17.1 The ordinary hours of the particular shifts should be the subject of Agreement between the employer, except where employees are working shift hours as determined by the contractor, multiple shifts roster applying to the majority of shift workers at the employee’s workplace.
17.2 Thirty minutes crib time shall be granted in respect of each shift of eight (8) hours for at least five (5) days' duration may hours. Employees working twelve hour shifts shall be worked. When two (2) allowed reasonable crib breaks as agreed between the employer and the majority of the employees in the enterprise or three (3) shifts are worked: The first part of the enterprise concerned.

17.4 In this clause the following definitions apply:
17.5 An employee working a non-continuous shift roster which requires work on either Saturday or Sunday but not both days will be paid a shift allowance for each shift worked on either Saturday or Sunday. The second Allowance will be reviewed annually.
17.6 An employee working a non-continuous shift (swing shift) shall consist roster which requires work on both Saturday and Sunday will be paid a shift allowance for each shift worked on both Saturday and Sunday. Such payments are in lieu of eight consecutive hours worked beginning at the allowances provided for in 17.3. The Allowance will be reviewed annually.

This allowance shall be determined at each location by the regular hourly rate of pay plus 17.3% for all employer and the Association. Provided that employees working a seven-day continuous roster, which operates over a four week, 38 hours worked. 17.9 Shift allowances prescribed by this clause will not be payable where the regular hourly rate of pay plus 31.4% for all hours worked. Shift Work. When so elected by Any employee may be employed on shift work in accordance with the contractorfollowing provisions:
11.1 For the purpose of this Agreement "shift work" shall mean all regular and continuing periods of duty of up to 12 hours commencing before 7.00 am or after 10.30 am but not including any duty which is rostered to finish at or before 7.00 pm.
11.2 The provisions of clause 10 - Overtime shall not apply to shift work. The ordinary hours of duty for employees required to perform shift work shall be 150 per 4 week cycle. By agreement between the employee and the relevant department/section supervisor, multiple shifts ordinary hours worked, while not to exceed 150 per 4 week cycle, may be organised such that employees can work shorter or longer hours on one or more days, provided that over the 4 week work cycle the average ordinary hours worked do not exceed 150. The shift work allowance shall not apply for the purposes of overtime provided that the minimum rate to be paid to any employee performing shift work between midnight on Friday and midnight on Saturday shall be time and a half. The minimum rate to be paid to any employee performing shift work between midnight on Saturday & midnight on Sunday or any holiday provided for in sub-clause 12 hereof shall be double time.
11.4 No shift worker shall be required or permitted to work during the shift for more than four hours without a meal break of pay is determined at least 30 minutes which shall count as time worked.
11.5 Notwithstanding the terms of this clause, alternative shift systems, including those based on a twelve hour ordinary time roster per day may be operated by the start time Company with the agreement of the shift (see chart below)majority of employees concerned.

Shift Work. When so elected (1) The ordinary working hours of continuous shift workers and shift workers whose work is connected with or incidental to any continuous process shall not exceed an average of 38 per week, in a work cycle.
(2) On the seasonal continuous 7 day shift operation of the dryers, 20 per cent more than ordinary rates will be paid for all shifts from 6am Monday to midnight on Friday. Shifts including hours from midnight Friday night to 6am Monday morning will be paid at double the ordinary time rate, ie without shift loading. Shift work and shift allowance will cease
(3) Employees performing shift work shall be paid 20 percent more than ordinary rates and employees performing permanent night shift will be paid 30 percent more than the ordinary rates. As an essential part of these responsibilities, these personnel are committed to a guaranteed changeover period to ensure correct communication between changing shift operators.
(4) Where more than one shift of workers is employed they shall be changed if possible in weekly alternation or rotation. In areas where this is not practical e.g. intake, a day work crew (non-shift) may work followed by a short-term permanent afternoon shift.
(5) The number of ordinary working hours for afternoon or night shift workers shall be the same as provided in this Agreement for day workers.
(6) A shift shall consist of not more than 8 hours inclusive of crib time:
(a) the Company and the Employee concerned being guided by the contractoroccupational health and safety regulations;
(b) proper health monitoring procedures being introduced;
(c) suitable roster arrangements being made; and
(d) proper supervision being provided.
(7) An employee who works on a non-continuous afternoon or night shift must be paid 150% of the ordinary hourly rate for the first 3 hours and 200% of the ordinary hourly rate after 3 hours. For the purposes of this clause, multiple shifts of eight a non-continuous afternoon or night shift means an afternoon or night shift that does not continue:
(8) hours a) for at least five 5 successive afternoon or night shifts or 6 successive afternoon or night shifts in a 6-day workshop (5where no more than 8 ordinary hours are worked on each shift); or

3.2.5 Green Line Employees engaged in the regular hourly rate Gold Cost Airport Asset Services Team who perform shift work are entitled to the allowance prescribed by clause 4.7 of pay plus 17.3% for all hours worked. this Agreement.
3.2.6 The third shift (graveyard shift) shall consist additional payments prescribed under clause 3.2 will not be taken into account in the computation of eight (8) consecutive hours worked beginning at a start time between 8:01 p.m. and 4:59 a.m. Workmen on the "graveyard shift" shall overtime or in determination of any allowance based upon wages or salary, nor will it be paid at the regular hourly rate of pay plus 31.4% for all hours worked. Shift Work. When so elected (a) The loading on the ordinary rates of pay for a Caregiver who works an afternoon shift commencing not earlier than 12.00 noon and finishing after 6.00 pm on weekdays shall be 12.5%.
(b) The provisions of paragraph (a) of this subclause do not apply to a Caregiver who on any weekday commences his/her ordinary hours of work after 12.00 noon and completes those hours at or before 6.00 pm on that day.
(c) The loading on ordinary rates of pay for a Caregiver who works a night shift commencing after 6.00 pm and completes those hours after midnight shall be 20%.
(d) A Caregiver rostered to work ordinary hours between midnight Friday and midnight on the following Saturday shall be paid a loading of 50% on actual hours worked during this period.
(e) A Caregiver rostered to work ordinary hours between midnight Saturday and midnight on the following Sunday shall be paid a loading of 60% on actual hours worked during this period.
(2) Where the ordinary hours of work span 12.00 midnight on a Friday night or Sunday night the additional payments for shift work and work during the weekend shall be made by calculation for each part of the contractorshift according to the rate applicable for additional payment for shift work and work during the weekend as the case may be.
(3) Provided that where a shift is extended or shortened at less than 12 hours notice the shift penalty rate paid in respect of any ordinary hours worked on that shift shall be the penalty rate which would have applied had the start and/or finish time not been varied.
(4) Caregivers who are rostered to work ordinary hours on Sundays and/or public holidays during a qualifying period of employment for annual leave purposes shall be entitled to receive additional annual leave as follows:
(i) If 35 or more ordinary shifts on such days have been worked - one week’s additional leave in each qualifying period;
(ii) If less than 35 ordinary shifts on such days have been worked the Caregiver shall be entitled to have one additional day’s leave for each seven ordinary shifts worked, multiple shifts of eight (8) hours for at least provided that the maximum allowed leave shall not exceed five days.

c. The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to schedule a meal break of one half (1/2) hour during each full shift which shall not constitute part of the work period. Such meal break shall be scheduled as close as possible to the midpoint of the shift, unless an alternate arrangement is agreed to at the appropriate level between the Employer and the employee. If an employee is not given a meal break scheduled in advance, all time from the commencement to the termination of the employee’s full shift shall be paid at one deemed time worked.
d. Where an employee’s scheduled shift does not commence and one-half times end on the "shift" hourly rate. There same day, such shift shall be no pyramiding considered for all purposes to have been entirely worked:
i. on the day it commenced where half (1/2) or more of overtime rates the hours worked fall on that day, or
ii. on the day it terminates where more than half (1/2) of the hours worked fall on that day. Accordingly, the first (1st) day of rest will be considered to start immediately after midnight of the calendar day on which the employee worked or is considered to have worked the employee’s last scheduled shift; and double the straight rate shall be the maximum compensation for any hour worked. Whenever this exception is agreed upon, said work shall be distributed among all Employees on site as evenly as is reasonably possible.
(b) Mutual agreement has been reached by both parties hereto as to what shift hours may be worked.
(c) Each location where shifts are established shall be considered as entirely new and separate from any other shift job and all conditions herein established for shift work shall apply separately.
(d) Employees working on night shifts shall neither be permitted nor required to perform any other work during the period beginning at eight (8:00) A.M. previous to a night shift and ending at the beginning of the shift on the following night.
(e) When only one night shift (second shift. All overtime ) is established in either the shop or in the field by Sheet Metal Workers or any other trade, such second shift shall work required after the completion of eight (8) hours and be paid a shift premium of any fifteen percent (15%) above the Journeypersons’ hourly wage rate. When two night shifts are established in either the shop or in the field by Sheet Metal Workers or another trade (second and third shifts), the second shift shall be paid at one work seven and one-half times (7½) hours and be paid for eight (8) hours plus a shift premium of fifteen percent (15%) above the "shift" Journeypersons’ hourly wage rate. Shift Work. When so elected A shift worker will be a person engaged as such and who works hours in accordance with this clause. The ordinary hours of work for a shift worker are 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Employees may work up to 10 hours on any shift without payment of overtime, provided that:
(a) in any arrangement of working hours where the ordinary working hours are to exceed eight on any day, the arrangement of hours shall be subject to the Agreement of the Company and the majority of Employees in the plant or section or sections concerned;
(b) by arrangement between the contractorCompany and the majority of Employees in the plant or section or sections concerned, multiple shifts of eight (8) ordinary working hours for at least five (5) days' duration not exceeding 12 on any day may be worked. When For the purposes of this Agreement:
(a) day shift means any shift starting after 8:00am and finishing at or before 6:00pm;
(b) afternoon shift means any shift finishing after 6:00pm and at or before midnight; and
(c) night shift means any shift finishing after midnight and at or before 8:00am. Shift workers, other than casuals, whilst on afternoon or night shifts, shall be paid 20% more than ordinary rates for such shifts. If the parties to the Agreement mutually agree, the shift week may commence with the third shift (graveyard shift) beginning before 4:59 a.m. Monday (which would normally be considered part of the Sunday workday) to coordinate the work with the customer's work schedule. However, any such adjustment shall last for at least five (5) consecutive days’ duration unless mutually changed by the parties to this agreement. An unpaid lunch period of thirty (30) 30 minutes shall be allowed on to shift workers each shift for crib, and shall be counted as time worked. Where shifts are worked pursuant to this Agreement, the Company shall have the right to decide and shall decide forthwith or before the commencement of such shift work, which of the shifts shall be the day shift and shall notify each Employee concerned accordingly. The Company shall, while shift work is being worked, exhibit and keep exhibited at the place at which shifts are worked, in a place to which the Employees have access, a notice specifying the times at which each shift shall commence and finish and which of the shifts is deemed to be the day shift. Shift workers whose working period includes a Saturday, Sunday or any of eight (8) hours of any shift the holidays specified in clause 30 shall be paid at as follows (all penalties are calculated on ordinary rates excluding shift loadings):
(a) midnight Friday to midnight Saturday – time and one and one-half times for the "shift" hourly rate. There shall be no pyramiding of overtime rates first two hours and double the straight rate shall be the maximum compensation for any hour worked. Shift Work. (a) The period of work or shift whose regular hours fall completely between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 5:30 P.M. shall be known as the day shift, and a period of work or shift whose regular hours embrace any portion of the period between the ending of the day shift of one day and the beginning of the next succeeding day shift shall be known as an extra shift. When so elected by the contractorEmployer requires an extra shift or shifts, multiple shifts he shall apply to the Council’s office or to the Representative of the Council for the area in which the job is located, for permission to institute such extra shift or shifts.
(b) The rate of pay for work on an extra shift for the first five (5) days of the regular work week as above specified, (hereinafter referred to as the “extra shift rate”) shall be ten per cent (10%) above the rates specified in Article 4 Sections (a) and (b) and Schedule “D” of this Agreement. It is understood that where, in accordance with the provisions of Article 3 (b) and (c), an extra shift has been established which begins after the day shift, only the extra shift rate need be paid for the first eight (8) hours for at least five (5) days' duration may be worked. When two (2) or three (3) shifts are worked: The first of work on such shift (day shift) shall consist of on a Friday, despite the fact that such eight (8) consecutive hours will end after Midnight on Friday; work on such shift after midnight of the day preceding a holiday shall, however, be paid for at twice the extra shift rate.
(c) An employee working on an extra shift shall be paid eight (8) hours’ pay at the extra shift rate, if he works less than eight (8) hours but more than four (4) hours; if the employee works four (4) hours or less, he shall be paid for four (4) hours at double the extra shift rate.
(d) No extra shift shall be worked at the extra shift rate unless a day shift is working. Where no day shift is working, all extra shift work shall be paid for at one and a half times (11/2) the rates specified in Article 4, Sections (a) and (b) and Schedule “P” of this Agreement. However, if certain work cannot be performed during the day due to the particular circumstances of a specific project, and a day shift cannot be worked, then a night shift for such work can be used and will be paid at 15% above the straight time wage rate. The provisions of this Section shall apply regardless of how many days such a night shift is worked.
(e) All overtime shift hours worked beginning at a start time between 5:00 a.m. any day Monday thru Friday, and 9:30 a.m. Workmen all shift hours worked on the "day shift" Saturday, shall be paid at the regular hourly rate of pay for all hours workedtime and one-half (1-1/2) the extra shift rate. The second All shift (swing shift) shall consist of eight consecutive hours worked beginning at a start time between 9:31 a.m. on Sunday and 8:00 p.m. Workmen on the "swing shift" Holidays shall be paid for at double the regular hourly rate extra shift rate.
(f) Notwithstanding the provisions of pay plus 17.3% Section (c) of this Article 6, if work on an extra shift is stopped due to weather conditions of such inclemency as to make it impossible for all hours worked. The third shift (graveyard shift) shall consist of eight (8) consecutive hours worked beginning at a start time between 8:01 p.m. and 4:59 a.m. Workmen on the "graveyard shift" shall be paid at the regular hourly rate of pay plus 31.4% for all hours worked. Shift Work. 20.01 Employees shall receive additional compensation for all hours worked as follows:
20.02 A day shift shall be one in which the majority of scheduled hours fall between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
(a) When so elected by the contractor, multiple it is necessary to establish shifts of a temporary nature, seniority shall determine shift preference subject only to ability to perform the job required.
(b) When more than one shift is regularly scheduled, employees shall rotate between shifts.
20.04 Twenty-four (24) hours notice shall be given before change of shifts. Failure to provide at least sixteen (16) hours rest between shifts which are being changed shall result in payment of overtime at established rates for any hours worked during such normal rest period.
20.05 In cases of unscheduled absenteeism and vacation relief, the provisions of Article 20.04 shall not apply to the initial relief employee involved, provided that at least eight (8) hours for at least five (5) days' duration may be worked. 21.01 An employee who has completed his initial probationary period shall receive without working the equivalent of one (swing shift1) day's pay at his basic rate for each of the following holidays regardless of the day on which the holiday is observed.
21.02 When any of the above holidays fall on a Saturday or Sunday and are not proclaimed as being observed on some other day, a day's pay or a day off in lieu thereof shall consist of eight consecutive hours worked beginning at a start time between 9:31 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Workmen be granted by mutual agreement.
(a) An employee who is not required to work on the "swing shift" above holidays shall receive holiday pay equal to one of his or her normal day's pay, provided he/she has worked their scheduled shift preceding and succeeding the paid holiday unless excused in writing by his/her superintendent or Division Head, and has worked 32 hours in the four weeks preceding the holiday.
(b) When an employee is scheduled to work on the paid holiday and does not work, he shall not be paid at for the regular hourly rate holiday unless excused by his immediate non-union supervisor.
(c) It is understood that an employee will not be required to work his scheduled shift before or after a paid holiday if he is absent on sick leave and can provide a doctor's certificate, or jury duty, leave of pay plus 17.3% absence for all hours worked. Shift Work. When so elected by 5.1 The ordinary hours of shift workers shall average 38 hours per week inclusive of crib time and shall not exceed 152 hours in 28 consecutive days.
5.2 Subject to the contractor, multiple shifts of eight following conditions such shift workers shall work at such times as the Company may require:

5.4 Shift work - general conditions
(a) The starting and finishing times of the shift shall be fixed by mutual arrangement between 5:00 a.m. the Company and 9:30 a.m. Workmen the Employee.
(b) A roster shall be prepared showing such starting and finishing times of each shift which shall be posted in a conspicuous place accessible to the Employees and when once fixed shall not be altered without seven days notice to such Employees.
(c) Shifts shall rotate weekly unless mutual arrangements are made between Company and Employee for rotation fortnightly.
(d) If an Employee on the "weekly rotation is not given day shift" shift for one week in four consecutive weeks, or if on fortnightly rotation is not given day shift for two weeks in eight consecutive weeks he or she shall be paid at the regular hourly overtime rate of pay for all hours each such afternoon or night shift worked.
