Common use of Shop Stewards Health & Safety Representatives Clause in Contracts

Shop Stewards Health & Safety Representatives. The parties to this Agreement recognise the important role the Shop Stewards and Health & Safety Representatives play in representing the Union at their workplace. The Shop Stewards and Health and Safety Representatives have a key role in the early intervention in industrial disputes and Health & Safety issues. Shop Stewards and Health & Safety Representatives shall be allowed all time necessary during working hours to attend to industrial and occupational health & safety matters on behalf of the employees and the Union. Shop Stewards and Health & Safety Representatives shall be engaged as employees and perform normal work when not representing their fellow workers or the Union on legitimate business. The parties recognise that employees have the right and expectation of representation from genuine Shop Stewards. It is noted that the Union has the right to appoint/elect Shop Stewards in accordance with its rules.
