Sick Days and Conditions. At the beginning of each school year, each employee shall be credited with the appropriate number of sick leave days according to contract length. The number of days will be prorated if the employee works less than a full contract year. Basic Year 8 Extended Year 9 Sick leave days may be used in quarter day increments when the employee must be absent because of illness or disability to himself/herself or to care for an ill family member. In the event of a serious illness or disability of the employee or family member's care, he/she shall use the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Sick leave days may be used as follows:
