Common use of Sick leave and Payment for Accumulated Sick Leave Clause in Contracts

Sick leave and Payment for Accumulated Sick Leave. The employee shall be granted twelve (12) sick days of leave each year, of which all unused days may be accumulated and available for sick leave, if needed, in subsequent years. Two (2) of these days may be used each year for the illness of a member of the employee's immediate family. Sick leave shall be available as of July 1. Upon retirement from employment, the employee shall be eligible for payment of unused sick leave as granted in the negotiated FREA Contract in accordance with Article 25, D.2 (Secretarial Employees, Library Clerks and Cafeteria/Playground Aides). Employees shall be given a written accounting of accumulated sick leave days no later than September 15th of each work year. A doctor's certificate is required for any absence in excess of three days.
