Sick leave with pay may be granted to employees who have earned sick leave with pay credits and who have served a total of six continuous months of regularly scheduled paid service except that supplemental disability credits may be used to supplement disability indemnity payments as provided elsewhere in this sectionregardless of length of service and except that an authorized leave of absence with or without pay granted under this section shall not be considered as a break in the continuous service of an employee.
