Common use of Step 3 (Filing a Grievance) Clause in Contracts

Step 3 (Filing a Grievance). Within ten (10) working days of receipt of the decision under Step 2, or if no decision is forthcoming, the grievance may be submitted to the Vice- Xxxxxxx, Faculty Affairs, or their designate. Within ten (10) working days of receipt of the Step 3 grievance, the parties will meet to discuss the grievance at a time and place suitable to them. In addition to the Assistant concerned, up to three (3) representatives of the local Union, for example, the appropriate Chief Xxxxxxx, Local Xxxxxxx and Staff Representative from the Union, shall have the right to be present at such meeting. The Vice-Xxxxxxx, Faculty Affairs, or their designate, may invite to the meeting such other persons (for example, the appropriate Academic Chair, Xxxx, and/or Senior Director) that they consider advisable, to a maximum of five (5). The Vice-Xxxxxxx, Faculty Affairs or their designate, shall deliver a decision within ten (10) working days from the date of the Step 3 grievance meeting. If the decision of the Vice-Xxxxxxx, Faculty Affairs or their designate, is not satisfactory to the Union, or if no decision is forthcoming, the complaint which was the subject of the grievance shall be referred to arbitration within ten (10) working days of receipt of the decision, as outlined in paragraph 9.08 below.
