Initiation of Grievance. When a dispute arises, an attempt shall be made by the Faculty Member to settle the grievance with the appropriate management representative. Failing a satisfactory solution, the Faculty Association shall initiate an informal meeting between the Grievor, a Faculty Association representative and the relevant Xxxx or the administrative supervisor in the case of a Librarian or Counsellor within ten working days after the situation leading to the grievance has arisen or within ten working days from the time the Faculty Member should reasonably have known of the occurrence of the situation giving rise to the grievance.

Initiation of Grievance. Grievances concerning layoffs and recalls shall be initiated at Step 2 of the grievance procedure.

1. Any grievance lodged by an Officer or the Guild shall be presented to a person designated for that purpose by the Employer.
2. The maximum time for instituting a grievance concerning demotion, suspension, dismissal and all other disciplinary matters shall be thirty (30) days from the date of demotion, suspension, dismissal or disciplinary matter. A Double Registered Letter shall be sent or delivered by hand to the Officer concerned if he requests it. The maximum time for instituting a grievance concerning issues other than the above shall be ninety (90) days.
3. Grievances arising shall be dealt with and processed to settlement in the following manner:
Step 1 The Officer or Officer’s involved shall first present the matter to the designated Employer official.
Step 2 If the matter is not satisfactorily resolved at Step 1 within forty eight (48) hours of the date the grievance is presented, the Officer shall within thirty (30) days of that date refer the matter to the appropriate Guild Representative who shall then within seven (7) days submit the grievance, in writing, to the Employer.
Step 3 If a satisfactory settlement is not reached within forty-eight (48) hours of the date the grievance is submitted to the Employer, the grievance may, within thirty (30) days of that date, be referred to the Arbitrator in the manner provided in Clause 3.4. By the Company

If a satisfactory settlement is not reached within seven (7) days of the date the grievance is presented in writing, the grievance may, within thirty (30) days of that date, be referred to the Arbitrator in the manner provided in Clause 3.4.

Such notice shall be clearly identified as a grievance and shall concisely state the facts upon which the grievance is based and when they occurred, specify the provision, article, and/or sections thereof within the Agreement that allegedly have been violated, specify the relief and remedy sought, and be signed by the grievant. Such notice shall be filed within twenty (20) business days after the occurrence of the event upon which the grievance is based. If the affected faculty member or the Chapter has no knowledge of the occurrence of the event within said twenty

a. An employee in his/her own behalf,
b. An employee accompanied by a Union representative, or
