Steps of the Procedure. 41. An employee shall discuss the grievance informally with the employee’s immediate supervisor, provided the grievance is not a discrimination or retaliation claim against that supervisor, and try to work out a satisfactory solution in an informal manner as soon as possible, but in no case later than seven (7) calendar days from the date of the occurrence of the act or the date the grievant might reasonably have been expected to have learned of the alleged violation being grieved. The grievant may have a Union representative present. 42. a. Step 1. If the grievance is not resolved after contact with the immediate supervisor, the grievant will submit the grievance in writing to the immediate supervisor no later than thirty (30) calendar days after the facts or event giving rise to the grievance, or within thirty (30) calendar days from such time as the employee or Union should have known of the occurrence thereof.
