Substitute Service While Filling Vacancy. If the District is engaged in the process of hiring a permanent employee to fill a vacancy in any unit position, the District may fill the vacancy through the employment of one or more substitutes for not more than sixty (60) calendar days. If the position remains unfilled after sixty (60) calendar days, the District shall consult with the Union concerning the difficulties in the filling of the position. The Union may grant an extension for an additional thirty (30) work days.
