Teacher Work Day. 1. The work day for all elementary school employees represented by the CGSEA shall consist of not more than seven (7) hours and thirty˗one (31) minutes, inclusive of the time periods specified in the following paragraphs: a. All employees shall be entitled to an uninterrupted, duty-free lunch period of not less than thirty (30) minutes. Employees may leave the building during this time. b. All elementary teachers shall be entitled to a minimum of 200 minutes per week of planning/conference time. Such planning/conference time shall be scheduled in blocks of no less than fifteen (15) minutes and each teacher shall have at least one (1) block of thirty (30) consecutive minutes each day. Elementary teachers who do not have an assigned homeroom may have their block of thirty (30) minutes scheduled outside the student day if necessary to make the master schedule work. Every attempt shall be made to schedule planning/conference time in thirty (30) consecutive minutes during the student day for teachers who are not assigned a homeroom. Affected teachers shall be given a copy of the tentative schedule and be invited to the review pursuant to Article VI, Section C. c.
