a. Hours that relate directly to the teacher's teaching field or subject, Hours that are included in an approved (both by the college or university and the district) program directed toward an advanced degree above the baccalaureate,
Teachers Currently Employed By The District. Conditions Which Govern Horizontal Advancement on the Salary Schedule Definition of Terms Criteria To Be Used In Approval Process
a. Hours that relate directly to the teacher's teaching field or subject,
b. Hours that are included in an approved (both by the college or university and the district) program directed toward an advanced degree above the baccalaureate,
c. Hours approved for re-certification,
d. Hours that are mandated by the Kansas State Board of Education,
e. Hours which can be agreed upon that may indirectly benefit the teacher in his/her subject or field, and
f. In-service points approved, in advance, by the Professional Development Council. The number of in-service points required to equal one (1) college credit hour is that number noted in the District's In-service Plan.
Teachers Currently Employed By The District. Vertical Movement – Vertical steps are only an experience factor and do not necessarily reflect the actual number of years taught. Teachers may advance only one experience step per year. Horizontal Movement – A teacher may advance horizontally or across the salary schedule by presenting evidence of a sufficient number of additional approved hours provided the hours have been made part of the teacher’s INDIVIDUAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN.
