Advanced Degree. 1. For those teachers hired to the District prior to July 1, 2011, salary adjustments shall be made for completion of advanced degrees earned during the school year upon receipt of the verification of the higher degree. The effective date of adjustment shall be the completion date of said advanced degree and in no case will precede July 1st of the fiscal year that the request for upgrade was submitted in writing.
2. For those teachers hired after July 1, 2011, salary supplements shall be made for the completion of an advanced degree which results in a subject area certification being issued/added to the teacher’s Florida Educator Certificate. The effective date of the salary supplement shall be the completion date of said advanced degree and confirmation of subject area certification on the teacher’s Florida Educator Certificate. In no case will the salary supplement precede July 1st of the fiscal year that the request for upgrade was submitted in writing.
3. Teachers who were hired to the District prior to July 1, 2011, and are pursuing a specific, planned Doctoral degree from an accredited institution and within the college of education of that institution or a planned Doctoral degree with completed course work within the planned doctoral program resulting in an area of certification according to the Florida School Code and the certification area can be utilized in the District’s education pl an in an area of certification shall be compensated at the Specialist level, to be titled M30 in the salary schedule. The upgrade will be granted upon receipt of “Official Transcripts” documenting the thirty (30) semester hours of required course work towards said Doctoral degree or when specialization requirements are completed for an area of certification not to be less than thirty (30) semester hours into the planned Doctoral program. Courses used to obtain a Master’s degree cannot be counted towards the Doctorate M/30 requirements. The effective date of adjustment shall in no case precede July 1st of the fiscal year that the request for upgrade was submitted in writing.
Advanced Degree. With the approval of the Superintendent, advanced degrees may relate to any position an employee holds or desires to hold within the School District or for any administrative position.
Advanced Degree a. An employee shall receive one stipend annually for the highest earned degree limited to the following:
i. Master’s Degree: M.A, M.S, M.Ed., Ed.S.
ii. Doctoral Degree: Ph.D., Ed.D.
b. The amount of the advanced degree stipend shall be the amount equal to:
i. two-and-eight-tenths percent (2.8%) of step 1 on the LPPA Salary Schedule 4 (School Psychologist) for employees with a Master’s degree ii. three-and-four-tenths percent (3.4%) of step 1 on the LPPA Salary Schedule 4 (School Psychologist) for employees with a Doctoral degree
c. In no case shall the amount of each stipend be less than $1,000.00 and $1,500.00 respectively.
d. The unit member must work half-time or more to receive a stipend.
Advanced Degree. For bargaining unit members hired on or after July 1, 2011, to qualify for advanced degree compensation, the advanced degree earned must be in an area of certification currently on the bargaining unit member’s certificate. Advanced degrees in Curriculum, Education, and/or Educational Leadership are considered broad degrees in education and are eligible for advanced degree payment. In addition, an advanced degree that is directly related to a broad academic field (i.e. degree in history and certification in social science) will be eligible. The application of an advanced degree that is not clearly identified on a certificate will be determined by mutual agreement between both parties of the Hernando Classroom Teachers’ Association and the Human Resources Department. If the qualifications are met, the payment will be made in the form of a supplement in the following amount: Masters = $2500 Specialist = $3500 Doctorate = $4500 If the bargaining unit member no longer holds the certification area used to qualify for the advanced degree payment, they must notify the Human Resource Department within ten (10) days from the date of the certificate change to end the supplement payment. Bargaining unit members hired prior to July 1, 2011 already receiving or become eligible to receive payment for an advanced degree will continue to be paid as indicated above. The instructional salary is for all instructional staff as defined in APPENDIX E.
Advanced Degree. Newly-hired, Full-Time Faculty possessing a Doctoral degree, MFA, or equivalent terminal degree from a regionally accredited college, in an area that supports the College’s curriculum shall receive an additional two thousand dollars ($2,000) in annual salary for a maximum of one qualifying terminal degree. Faculty will be required to provide official transcripts verifying all educational credentials prior to the completion of the salary placement process.
Advanced Degree. After hire, when a full-time academic employee is awarded an advanced degree as part of a pre-approved professional development plan, and submits an official transcript verifying the degree, the employee will be awarded movement of 0.10 on the SIM. The salary adjustment will be effective July 1 of the next fiscal year, subject to legislative funding. If completion of the degree is a condition of employment for a new academic employee, there will be no movement on the SIM upon completion of that degree.
Advanced Degree a. An employee shall receive one stipend annually for the highest earned degree limited to the following:

ii. Doctoral Degree: Ph.D., Ed.D.
b. The amount of the advanced degree stipend shall be based on an amount derived by applying the following formula to cell C,10 on the LPPA Salary Schedule (Annualized 182 Factor 1.00) In no case shall the amount of each stipend be less than $1,000.00 and $1,500.00 respectively. c. It is the intention of the parties to link the advance degree stipends to the salary schedule so agreed upon cost of living adjustments which are applied to the salary schedule are reflected in the advance degree stipends as well.
Advanced Degree. If a faculty member, on or after the first day of the fiscal 1997 academic year and while employed by the College, is awarded an advanced degree, or a certificate or license in the discipline for which he is employed by the College, and that advanced degree would result in enhanced salary placement for a faculty member initially hired by the College in such discipline, such faculty member’s salary shall be increased, effective as of the beginning of the first fiscal academic year commencing after the faculty member notifies the College of, and furnishes to the College evidence of, the award of such degree, license or certificate. The amount of such increase shall be equal to the amount that would be paid to a faculty member initially hired to commence employment during the fiscal academic year for which the increase becomes effective. No faculty member may be awarded a salary increase pursuant to this Section 8.2(C):
(i) to the extent that such increase would increase the faculty member’s salary to an amount in excess of the maximum salary set forth in Section 8.2(A) of this Agreement; or (ii) more than once during the term(s) of his employment by the College.
Advanced Degree. Any teacher who completes a Master’s Degree in a District- approved university program after January 1, 2016 shall receive the increase one time in the school year following completion of the degree, regardless of which semester the degree is completed.
Advanced Degree. Employees who attend a certified, state-recognized, accredited college or university for the purpose of achieving an advanced degree in the employee’s field of certification or that directly relates to the employee’s instructional responsibilities shall, at the option of the Superintendent, be compensated as follows: • Upon completion of one-half of the course requirements and the submission of acceptable proof of such completion, a total sum of $500.00 will be paid to the employee. • Upon satisfactory completion of the course requirements and the submission of acceptable proof of such completion, the employee’s salary will be adjusted to the appropriate level of the salary schedule to reflect such achievement.
