Teachers who will be affected by a change in grade assignments in the elementary school grades and by changes in subject assignments in the secondary school grades will be notified and consulted by their principals as soon as schedules for the coming year are established per the procedure set forth in Article 10. C. Teachers will assume responsibility for hall conduct for the area adjacent to their rooms and may expect reasonable assignment by the building administrator corridor duties. D. Teachers may expect reasonable assignment by the building administrator to school related activities carried on within the school day. E. The Board and the Association recognize that the education of the children of the Owosso School District is their primary responsibility. The Board and the Association recognize that they also have a responsibility to assist in the training of future teachers. The Board, therefore, agrees to the following practices as regards student or the equivalent thereofpractice teachers. 1. Elementary No teacher shall be assigned a student teacher against his wishes. 2. Probationary teachers may use for preparation all not be used as critic or supervisory teachers. 3. TEACHING LOADS AND ASSIGNMENTS. A. The normal regular weekly teaching load in the senior high school will consist of an average of be no more than twenty-five (25) teaching periods or supervised study periods and five (5) daily teaching periods and one (1) period of preparation, or the equivalent thereofunassigned conference periods. The normal regular weekly teaching load at in the middle school and high school will consist of an average of be no more than thirty (30) hours, not including lunch or passing time, but including five (5) unassigned conference periods (of equal duration to teaching periods). The Association agrees that the purpose of non-teaching time (other than lunch periods) is to permit the teacher to have time during the school day for planning, conferences, preparations for teaching and related teaching functions and obligations concerned with the actual teaching assignment. The normal regular daily teaching load in the elementary schools for classroom and elementary teaching specialists will be approximately 26.5 hours of classroom duties weekly, is from 8:10 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. or the equivalent thereofeach day with a forty (40) minute lunch period. Elementary The above loads, minutes, and/or lunch periods may be adjusted by mutual agreement between the Board and the Association to meet State requirements. All elementary teachers shall have at least two hundred twenty-five (225) minutes per week released time to be used for preparation, provided such time may include time when their class is attending essentials classes, including but not limited to technology, art, music, and recess, or physical education, and during but shall not include the time of the 20 minute recess period when the students are under the direct supervision of hired playground aidesbefore or after classes begin or end. In addition, one-half (1/2) hour of the delayed start professional development days will be reserved for personal planning. Consistent with the above requirements, This does not require the Board to provide these special classes and does not require any special classes that are missed to be made-up for any reason.
