Common use of Temporary Acting Pay Clause in Contracts

Temporary Acting Pay. An employee temporarily assigned in writing to an acting position in a classification with a higher salary range shall be compensated for the duration of the acting assignment by the payment of ten percent (10%) of the regular salary the employee received prior to the acting assignment, or the salary provided for in Step A of the higher classification, whichever is greater, but not to exceed top step of the higher classification for all time worked and any leave time paid. The higher classified position must be temporarily vacant due to a long-term absence of the incumbent or pending the filling of a vacant position. The temporary acting pay assignment shall be for a minimum of two full-time pay periods and limited to one year. Authorization for a temporary acting assignment must be given by the employee’s supervisor and requires advance approval of the Department Head, Human Resources Director and City Manager.
