Union Activity During Working Hours. Solicitation of Union membership or collection or checking of dues will not be conducted during working time. The Company agrees not to discriminate in any way against any employee for Union activity, but such activity shall not be carried on during working time, except as specifically allowed by the provisions of this Agreement.

The Employer and the Union recognize that stewards play an important role in effectuating the terms of this Agreement; however, both parties acknowledge that the duties undertaken as a xxxxxxx are in addition to the stewards’ job assignments. Consistent with the operational needs of the Employer, the Employer shall grant time off with pay, including reasonable travel time when necessary, to attend:
1) grievance meetings;
2) Labor Management Committee meetings;
3) negotiating sessions regarding supplementation or amendment of this Agreement during its term;
4) committee meetings and activities if such meetings or activities have been jointly established by the parties; or
5) meetings called or agreed to by the Employer, if such employees are entitled and required to attend the meetings by virtue of being Union representatives or stewards. Release hours will not exceed the employee's normally scheduled workday. Time off with pay will not be unreasonably withheld. The Union will normally provide the Employer with the names of its representatives who need release time within 48 hours of the scheduling of the meeting. Union representatives shall be allowed reasonable work time to complete assignments that have been assigned by the Labor Management Committee. The employee's supervisor shall approve when the time can be taken. The practices described in § 12-405 of the State Personnel and Pensions Article shall apply to grievants, witnesses and Union representatives. The practices described in the current Transportation Human Resources Policy §7I, Subsection 10, shall be maintained.

The employee is required to code any activity pursuant to this section as follows: select work tag “remote work location” and then select “union business” on the employee’s timesheet. Upon request to and approval of the immediate supervisor, employees shall be allowed reasonable time off with pay during working hours to investigate and process grievances or attend grievance hearings or Labor/Management Committee meetings called or agreed to by the School, provided that such employees are entitled or required to attend such meetings by virtue of being Union representatives, witnesses, or grievants, and such attendance does not substantially interfere with School operations.

Employees shall, aftergiving reasonable notice to their supervisors, be allowed reasonable time off with pay during working hours to attend grievance meetings orother meetings called or agreed to by the City, if such employees areentitled or required to attend such meetings by virtue of being unionrepresentatives or grievants and if such attendance will not unreasonably or substantially disrupt or interfere with the City's operations.

Union Activity During Working Hours. Union activities within Employer facilities shall be restricted to administering this Agreement. A Union Xxxxxxx shall ask for and obtain permission before leaving his/her job in order to conduct Union business. The Xxxxxxx will ask for and obtain permission from the Department Head of any employee with whom he/she wishes to carry on Union business. Authorized agents of the Union shall have access to the Employer’s establishment during work hours for the purpose of adjusting disputes, investigating working conditions, and ascertaining that the Agreement is being adhered to, provided however, there is no interruption of the Employer’s working schedule.
