Treatment Narrative Sample Clauses

Treatment Narrative. Contractor recommends a minimum 6-month rental (demonstration period) of three HP1020CIXSYS Systems to provide reduction of taste and odor issues. This rental equipment will be used in a potable application. Please note that the proposed equipment is new. The vessels and piping have an NSF-61 approved liner. Please reference the attached General Assembly Drawing, Specification Summary, and Process Flow Diagram (PFD) for more details. For each HP1020CIXSYS vessel, influent flow will enter at the top of the vessel and the effluent flow will exit through an external septa underdrain at the bottom of the vessel. An 8” diameter epoxy lined carbon steel 4-tier piping manifold is provided for lead/lag or parallel operation with separate connections for influent, effluent, backwash inlet and backwash discharge that will tie into interconnecting piping provided by others. A rupture disk is provided for each vessel located on the piping manifold just prior to the vessel it is protecting. Each vessel will contain 20,000 lbs. of AC1240C virgin coconut-based granular activated carbon, for a total of 120,000 lbs. At 667gpm, the Empty Bed Contract Time (EBCT) is 7.9 minutes per vessel and the hydraulic loading rate is 8.5 gpm/ft . Little maintenance of the treatment system is required, and minimal operator monitoring is needed. Contractor can offer many types of activated carbon including coconut-based and coal- based. We understand that testing is currently underway. If testing shows coal-based carbon is better for this application, Contractor can substitute the appropriate carbon type and adjust the price accordingly. Please note, it is Contractor’s recommendation that the systems be run in a lead/lag configuration. Lead/lag would allow optimum use of carbon in the lead vessels by repositioning the vessels after each breakthrough. In addition, intermediate and final effluent sample testing will offer Contractor and the Town better planning and preparation for the carbon change-out schedule.
