Common use of Trial Period Clause in Contracts

Trial Period. The successful applicant for a posted permanent position shall be placed on trial for a period of six (6) months. If both parties agree, the trial period may be reduced. Conditional on satisfactory service, such trial promotion shall become permanent after the period of six (6) months. In the event the successful applicant proves unsatisfactory in the position during the aforementioned trial period, or if the employee is unable to perform the duties of the new job classification, or if the employee wishes to return to his/her former classification, such employee shall be returned to the former position without loss of seniority and wage or salary. Any other employee promoted or transferred because of the rearrangement of positions shall also be returned to the former position without loss of seniority and wage or salary.
