Common use of Unauthorized absence from duty Clause in Contracts

Unauthorized absence from duty. Any unauthorized absence of an employee from duty shall be deemed to be an absence without pay and may be grounds for disciplinary action. Any employee who is absent without authorization for two (2) consecutive scheduled workdays within twelve (12) months may be deemed to have resigned after a review by Human Resources. When extenuating circumstances are found to have existed, however, the Employer may authorize such absence by a subsequent approval of leave with or without pay.
