Vacation Leave and Termination Date. Employees not planning to return to County employment at the expiration of a vacation leave, except those retiring, shall be compensated in a lump sum payment for accrued vacation at the employee’s then base rate of pay and shall not be carried on the payroll. Retiring employees may elect to use vacation leave to enhance retirement benefits or to be compensated in a lump sum payment for accrued vacation leave, provided that each pay period the employee charges the number of hours in their regular scheduled tour of duty.
