Common use of Vacation/Sick Leave Exchange Clause in Contracts

Vacation/Sick Leave Exchange. Employees may exchange sick leave for vacation time in accordance with the following: Employees wishing to exchange sick leave for vacation leave must retain a minimum sick leave balance of 240 hours for full time employees and a proportionate amount for part- time employees based on FTE. The exchange may be requested once an anniversary year. Employees may exchange two (2) hours of sick leave for one (1) hour of vacation, up to the maximum as per the following (part-time employees may exchange in proportion to their FTE): Years of Employment Sick Leave Exchanged Vacation Accrued 0 to 5 16 hours 8 hours 5 to 10 32 hours 16 hours 10 to 15 48 hours 24 hours 15 to 20 72 hours 36 hours over 20 96 hours 48 hours Employees wishing to exchange leave time under this section must submit an exchange request in writing to Payroll. The exchange will be processed with the first available payroll.
