Weddings. Employees may apply for an unpaid leave of absence for up to five (5) days to attend the wedding of an immediate family member (dependent, parents, grandparents, brothers, sister and in-law relations in the same categories). The request will be submitted in writing to the Superintendent at least thirty (30) days prior to the requested leave. The day immediately preceding, or the day immediately following a legal holiday or school recess (e.g., New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, etc.) will not be recognized by the Board as an unpaid leave day, except for circumstances presenting unusual circumstances. Those circumstances will be reviewed by the Superintendent or designee to determine whether such time should be granted.
