Common use of Wellness and Fitness Clause in Contracts

Wellness and Fitness. 27.1 The parties recognize the importance of employees maintaining a healthy lifestyle that includes, in part, maintaining and keeping current adequate exercise equipment. Any request for new equipment should be forwarded through the Joint Safety Committee. The Committee shall determine if such a request is warranted and shall, if possible, designate that the equipment in question shall be purchased from the allocated portion of the Safety and Equipment budget during the current year. Funds, in the equivalent of one-half (.5) hour pay for each member in Operations, shall be set aside annually in this allocated portion of the Safety and Equipment Budget. If sufficient funds are not available during the current year’s budget, but the equipment is deemed to be necessary to purchase, required additional funds shall be included in the Fire Department budget for the following year(s).
