Winter Shifts for Highway Maintenance Crews. (a) The Union and the Employer recognize that the implementation for highway maintenance winter shifts is largely dependent on winter conditions and that shifts may have to be implemented on short notice. (b) However, it is agreed that wherever possible the negotiation of these shift schedules should be completed at least forty-five (45) days prior to anticipated commencement and that fifteen (15) days should be provided for any sign up and selection process which is involved. Therefore the parties shall commence negotiations for the winter shift schedule July 1 of each year.
