Common use of Written Warnings Clause in Contracts

Written Warnings. An Employee’s Supervisor(s) may issue written warnings. Written warnings consist of a conference between the Employee and the Supervisor imposing the warning and a written memorandum expressing disapproval of the conduct or poor work performance that led to the written warning. The memorandum will warn that continued improper conduct or poor work performance will result in more severe discipline, up to and including discharge. Written warnings will be used for situations including, but not limited to, poor work performance, poor attendance, repeated misconduct of a minor nature, or serious misconduct that in the Park District’s opinion does not warrant suspension or discharge. An Employee is required to sign the written warning indicating receipt of the warning and his/her understanding of the reason for the warning. The Employee will also be given an opportunity to provide written comments on the form. If he/she refuses to sign, another Supervisor will be asked to witness the refusal. A copy of the written warning will be placed in the employee’s personnel file.
