Adult care facility definition

Adult care facility means a licensed assisted living facility or adult day care center.
Adult care facility means an adult family home or an adult group home. Any residence, facility, institution, hotel, congregate housing project, or similar facility that provides accommodations and supervision to three to 16 unrelated adults, at least three of whom are provided personal care services, is an adult care facility regardless of how the facility holds itself out to the public. "Adult care facility" does not include any of the following:

Adult care facility means a family-type home for adults, a shelter for adults, a residence for adults or an adult home, which provides temporary or long-term residential care and services to adults who, though not requiring continual medical or nursing care as provided by facilities licensed or operated pursuant to article 28 of the Public Health Law or articles 19, 23, 29 and 31 of the Mental Hygiene Law, are, by reason of physical or other limitations associated with age, physical or mental disabilities or other factors, unable or substantially unable to live independently.
