The Contractor is responsible for ensuring his/her workers and Subcontractors are adequately trained in confined space entry procedures in accordance with OSHA 1910.146, Permit Required Confined Spaces for General Industry.
Prior to work commencements, the Contractor will also certify in writing that all of his/her workers and Subcontractors have been trained in accordance with OSHA 1910.146, Permit Required Confined Spaces for General Industry.
The Contractor shall be aware of these dangers and shall comply with Article 108, "Confined Spaces," of the General Industrial Safety Orders contained in Title 8 of the California Administrative Code.

Before work commences in conduit system maintenance holes, the Bidder must follow industry standards and WA State Regulations (WAC 296-809 – Confined Spaces) for atmospheric testing, ventilation, barricading and signage of each manhole that will be entered by the Bidder as applicable.
Under the University’s confined space policy, where areas are defined as permit-required confined spaces, the Contractor shall only enter these permit-required spaces under the auspices of a written confined space permitting program that meets the requirements of OSHA’s Standard for Permit Required Confined Spaces (29 CFR 1910.146).

It is the responsibility of the Contractor to provide all equipment or assistance to make the confined space safe for entry by the City Representative or its representa- tive per the California Code of Regulations, Title 8; General Industry Safety Orders entitled "Confined Spaces".
