Eligible Period of Temporary Absence definition

Eligible Period of Temporary Absence means a period throughout which a Member does not render services to the City by reason of a leave of absence, or any other circumstances acceptable to the Minister of National Revenue and approved by the City other than a period any part of which is a period during which the Member is Disabled or is on Approved Leave of Absence for Union Business.
Eligible Period of Temporary Absence means an eligible period of temporary absence, as that term is defined in subsection 8500(1) of the regulations under the Income Tax Act (Canada).

  • Temporary Employee is one who is hired on a temporary basis for a full- time or part-time position:

  • Period of Service means the aggregate of all periods of service commencing with an Employee's first day of employment or reemployment with the Employer or an Affiliated Employer and ending on the first day of a Period of Severance, or for benefit accrual purposes, ending on the severance from service date. The first day of employment or reemployment is the first day the Employee performs an Hour of Service. An Employee who incurs a Period of Severance of twelve (12) months or less will also receive service-spanning credit by treating any such period as a Period of Service for purposes of eligibility and vesting (but not benefit accrual). For purposes of benefit accrual, a Participant's whole year Periods of Service is equal to the sum of all full and partial periods of service, whether or not such service is continuous or contiguous, expressed in the number of whole years represented by such sum. For this purpose, fractional periods of a year will be expressed in terms of days.

  • Period of Severance means a continuous period of time during which an Employee is not employed by the Employer. Such period begins on the date the Employee retires, quits or is discharged, or if earlier, the twelve (12) month anniversary of the date on which the Employee was otherwise first absent from service.

  • Leave of Absence means absent from work with permission.

  • Temporary employment Any employment which will require the services of an incumbent for a limited period of time, paid on an hourly basis, not in an allocated position or in permanent status. Transfer: The change of an employee who has permanent status in a position to another position in the same class in a different department, or to another position in a class which is allocated to a range on the salary plan that is within five percent (5%) at top step as the class previously occupied by the employee.   • Temporary Employees means those employees hired to replace regular employees absent due to illness, accident, vacation, leave of absence, etc., or hired to perform work on projects or assignments of limited duration. The employment of temporary employees hired to perform work on projects or assignments of limited duration shall be limited to a period of ninety (90) days of work in any twelve (12) month period, commencing from the date of hire or commencement of employment in such period. The period of employment for temporary employees hired for all other purposes shall be limited to twelve (12) months. A project or assignment of limited duration shall not exceed eighteen (18) weeks’ duration in any twelve (12) month period. Any projects or assignments of limited duration in excess of that provided for herein will be posted.

  • Excused absence means an absence from school that is authorized by the local school administrator or local school corporation rule.

  • Approved Leave of Absence means a leave of absence that has been approved by the applicable Participating Company in such a manner as the Board may determine from time to time.

  • Period of Takaful means the period of Takaful shown in the Schedule.

  • maternity or paternity leave of absence means, for Plan Years beginning after December 31, 1984, an absence from work for any period by reason of the Employee's pregnancy, birth of the Employee's child, placement of a child with the Employee in connection with the adoption of such child, or any absence for the purpose of caring for such child for a period immediately following such birth or placement. For this purpose, Hours of Service shall be credited for the computation period in which the absence from work begins, only if credit therefore is necessary to prevent the Employee from incurring a 1-Year Break in Service, or, in any other case, in the immediately following computation period. The Hours of Service credited for a "maternity or paternity leave of absence" shall be those which would normally have been credited but for such absence, or, in any case in which the Administrator is unable to determine such hours normally credited, eight (8) Hours of Service per day. The total Hours of Service required to be credited for a "maternity or paternity leave of absence" shall not exceed 501.

  • Unexcused absence means an absence from school that is not authorized by the local school administrator or local school corporation rule.

  • Temporary total disability means disability that results in the inability of an employee to earn wages as a result of a compensable injury for which disability benefits may not exceed a cumulative total of one hundred four weeks or the date the employee reaches maximum medical improvement or maximum medical recovery, whichever occurs first.

  • Temporary service means an electrical service granted temporarily for such purposes as construction, real estate sales, trailers, et cetera;

  • Period of Extended Hire means any additional period that the Hirer wishes the Agency Worker to be supplied for beyond the duration of the original Assignment or series of assignments as an alternative to paying a Transfer Fee;

  • Temporary disability means wage loss replacement for the primary job;

  • Leave Year means the period during which the Agency Worker accrues and may take statutory leave commencing on the date that the Agency Worker starts an Assignment or a series of Assignments;

  • Continuous period of creditable coverage means the period during which an individual was covered by creditable coverage, if during the period of the coverage the individual had no breaks in coverage greater than sixty-three (63) days.

  • Extended Period As defined in Section 9.04(b).

  • Temporary Total Disablement means disablement which entirely prevents the Insured Person from attending to their business or occupation.

  • Minimum Period of Service means a period of 12 consecutive months beginning on the Service Start Date, unless set out otherwise in any applicable Order.

  • Medically Necessary Leave of Absence means a Leave of Absence by a full-time student Dependent at a postsecondary educational institution that:

  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families or "TANF" means the program administered by the Department through which a relative can receive monthly cash assistance for the support of his eligible children.

  • Covered Period means the period beginning six (6) months prior to a Change in Control and ending twenty-four (24) months after the Change in Control.

  • STIPULATED HOURS OF SERVICE PER DAY means hours of duty per day, normal hours/timings of duty whereof shall be determined by the Company's Engineer for which fixed charge shall be payable.

  • Period of Employment shall include any extension thereof pursuant to the preceding sentence. Provision of notice that the Period of Employment shall not be extended or further extended, as the case may be, shall not constitute a breach of this Agreement and shall not constitute “Good Reason” for purposes of this Agreement. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Period of Employment is subject to earlier termination as provided below in this Agreement.

  • Program Year means the annual period beginning January 1 and ending December 31.
