Examples of Period of Severance in a sentence
A Period of Severance is a continuous period of time during which the Employee is not employed by the Employer.
A Period of Severance begins on the date the Employee retires, quits or is discharged, or if earlier, the 12-month anniversary of the date on which the Employee is first absent from service for a reason other than retirement, quit or discharge.
In the case of an Employee who is absent from work for maternity or paternity reasons, the 12-consecutive month period beginning on the first anniversary of the first date of such absence shall not constitute a Period of Severance.
In calculating an Employee’s aggregate period of service, an Employee receives credit for any Period of Severance that lasts less than 12 consecutive months.
Under the Elapsed Time method, an Employee receives credit for the aggregate period of time worked for the Employer commencing with the Employee's first day of employment (or reemployment, if applicable) and ending on the date the Employee begins a Period of Severance which lasts at least 12 consecutive months.
