Hazardous Waste Management Unit definition

Hazardous Waste Management Unit or “HWMU” shall mean a contiguous area of land on or in which hazardous waste is placed, or the largest area in which there is a significant likelihood of mixing hazardous waste constituents in the same area and are subject to the closure and post-closure requirements of 40 CFR 264 Subpart G. Examples include: surface impoundment, waste pile, land treatment area, landfill cell, incinerator, a tank, and a greater than 90 day storage area.
