Interrupted Stay definition

Interrupted Stay means a case in which a patient is discharged and then admitted directly to an inpatient acute care hospital, an Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF), a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or a swing-bed and then returns to the same Facility within a fixed period of time. Currently, Medicare has determined the fixed period of time for each provider type is as follows:
Interrupted Stay means a case in which a patient is discharged and then admitted directly to an inpatient acute care hospital, an Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF), a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or a swing-bed and then returns to the same Facility within a fixed period of time. Currently, Medicare has determined the fixed period of time for each provider type is as follows: a. Acute care hospital – 9 days or less. b. Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) – 27 days or less. c. Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) – 45 days or less. d. Swing-bed hospital – 45 days or less. e. Discharge to a patient’s home and readmission to a Facility within three days, subject to update in accordance with CMS guidelines. An Interrupted Stay is treated as one discharge for the purpose of payment and only one MS LTC-DRG payment is made.
Interrupted Stay means a situation where the patient is discharged from the Facility to an acute care hospital, inpatient rehabilitation facility, skilled nursing home or the patient’s residence, and is subsequently readmitted to Facility on or before midnight on the third (3rd) calendar day. The parties acknowledge and agree that the foregoing definition of an “Interrupted Stay” is based on the Medicare definition of a “3-day or less interruption of stay” set forth in 42 C.F.R. §412.531(a)(1). In the event the Medicare definition of a “3-day or less interruption of stay” is hereinafter amended or modified, the definition of an “Interrupted Stay” herein shall be adjusted accordingly. Examples of Interrupted Stay in a sentence

  • Facility shall be responsible for any Transportation Service furnished to a patient of Facility: (i) during an inpatient stay at such facility, as determined in accordance with Medicare rules and regulations and (ii) during an Interrupted Stay (as hereinafter defined).

  • If the patient is discharged from Facility and returns prior to midnight on the first day of such Interrupted Stay, Facility shall be responsible for payment of any Transportation Services.

Interrupted Stay means a situation where the patient is discharged from the Facility and is subsequently readmitted to Facility or any other inpatient psychiatric facility on or before midnight on the third (3rd) calendar day. The parties acknowledge and agree that the foregoing definition of an “Interrupted Stay” is based on the Medicare definition of an “interrupted stay” set forth in 42 C.F.R. §412.402. In the event the Medicare definition of an “interrupted stay” is hereinafter amended or modified, the definition of an “Interrupted Stay” herein shall be adjusted accordingly.

Related to Interrupted Stay

  • Service Interruption means the cessation of electricity supply to an ICP for a period of 1 minute or longer, other than by reason of De-energisation of that ICP:

  • Continuous monitoring means the collection and use of measurement data and other information to record the data inputs required to calculate the 365-day rolling average lifecycle GHG emissions, in accordance with the compliance monitoring plan described in section IV.C.

  • Continuous Status as an Employee means the absence of any interruption or termination of service as an Employee. Continuous Status as an Employee shall not be considered interrupted in the case of a leave of absence agreed to in writing by the Company, provided that such leave is for a period of not more than 90 days or reemployment upon the expiration of such leave is guaranteed by contract or statute.

  • Continuous work means work carried on with consecutive shifts throughout the twenty four hours of each of at least five consecutive days without interruption except during breakdowns or meal breaks or due to unavoidable causes beyond the control of the Employer.

  • Generation Service means the sale of electricity, including ancillary services such as the provision of reserves, to a Customer by a Competitive Supplier.

  • Service in the uniformed services means the performance of duty on a voluntary or involuntary basis in a uniformed service under competent authority and includes active duty, active duty for training, initial active duty for training, inactive duty training, full-time national guard duty including state-ordered active duty, and a period for which a person is absent from a position of employment for the purpose of an examination to determine the fitness of the person to perform any such duty.
