Legislative agent definition

Legislative agent means any individual, except a member of the general assembly, a member of the staff of the general assembly, the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, treasurer of state, or auditor of state, who is engaged during at least a portion of the individual's time to actively advocate as one of the individual's main purposes. An individual engaged by the Ohio casino control commission, a member of the commission, the executive director of the commission, or an employee or agent of the commission to actively advocate is a "legislative agent" even if the individual does not during at least a portion of the individual's time actively advocate as one of the individual's main purposes.
Legislative agent means any person who is employed, appointed or retained, with or without compensation, by another person as defined in (a) above to influence in any matter the act or vote of any member of the General Assembly of this State during any regular or special session thereof upon or concerning any bill, resolution, amendment, report, claim, act or veto pending or to be introduced.
Legislative agent means any person who receives or agrees to receive, directly or indirectly, compensation, in money or anything of value (including reimbursement of his or her expenses where such reimbursement exceeds $100.00 in any three-month period), to influence legislation or to influence regulation, or both, by direct or indirect communication with or by making or authorizing, or causing to be made or authorized, any expenditures providing a benefit to a member of the Legislature, legislative staff, the Governor, the Governor's staff, or any officer or staff member of the Executive Branch, or who holds himself or herself out as engaging in the business of influencing legislation or regulation by such means or who, incident to his or her regular employment, engages in influencing legislation or regulation by such means.
