Patient Encounter means, for the purpose of determining whether a Medical Staff Member “regularly treats” patients at the Medical Center, (a) an inpatient or outpatient admission of a patient during which the Medical Staff Member has direct, in-person contact with the patient; or
Patient Encounter means any encounter where medical treatment and/or evaluation and management services are provided. For purposes of this rule, the entire course of an inpatient stay in a healthcare facility or treatment in an emergency department is considered a single patient encounter.

Patient Encounter means any action on the part of the Practitioner to provide medical or other patient care services to the patient in the Hospital or its facilities, including, without limitation, admission, treatment, performance or interpretation of diagnostic tests, or consultation, and may include the supervision of house staff and medical students; provided however, that Patient Encounter shall not include the ordering of tests on an out-patient basis.
