Pay point 6 means the pay point to which an Enrolled Mental Health Nurse (as defined) will be appointed or will progress from Pay point 5, having been assessed as being competent at Pay point 5, where such an employee possesses and may be required to utilise a level of nursing skill and knowledge acquired on the basis of: Training and experience (i) In addition to the experience, skill and knowledge requirements specified for Pay point 5 (as defined), not more than one further year of practical experience in the provision of nursing care and/or services; and (ii) the undertaking of relevant inservice training, subject to its provision by the employing agency, from time to time. Skill indicators An employee is required to demonstrate all of the following in the performance of their work: (i) contributes information in assisting the Registered Nurse/s with development of nursing strategies/improvements within the employee’s own practice setting and/or nursing team, as necessary; and (ii) responds to situations in less stable and/or changed circumstances resulting in positive outcomes, with minimal direct supervision; and (iii) demonstrates efficiency and sound judgement in identifying situations requiring assistance from a Registered Nurse. (4) Pay point progression – Enrolled Mental Health Nurses (a) Subject to the terms specified for each Pay point as defined in this Agreement herein, each employee will progress on their annual anniversary date from one Pay point to the next, having regard to the acquisition and utilisation of skills and knowledge through experience in their practice setting/s over such period. Provided that, an employee, including a casual employee, who has worked an average of 24 hours per week, or less, in a year will be required to work a further 12 months before being eligible for advancement to the next succeeding experience increment (if any), within the level in which the employee is employed. Provided further that those employees who reach the full time equivalent hours (1976 hours) before two years have elapsed will progress to the next experience increment upon reaching the full time equivalent hours. (b) Provided further, that an employee’s progression may be deferred or refused by the Employer, provided that any such deferral or refusal is referable only to the terms specified for each Pay point (as defined), and is not unreasonably nor arbitrarily imposed by the Employer.
