This support may include providing a mentor Teacher and will involve regular feedback in relation to the Teacher’s progress in reaching the Proficient Teacher standard.
Where a Teacher working towards Proficient Teacher accreditation or registration is identified by the School as being at risk of not meeting the required standards by the end of their second year of teaching the School will advise the Teacher of this at the commencement of the final term of the Teacher’s second year of teaching.
Teacher The School will provide appropriate support to Teachers who are working toward achieving their accreditation or registration at Proficient Teacher level.
The School shall identify to the Teacher the specific standard descriptors where further progress is required and support the Teacher to address any identified issues to assist their progression towards completing accreditation or registration at Proficient Teacher level.
Trained Teacher (Band 1 and Band 2) A Five Years Trained Teacher shall commence on Step 6 of Band 1 and shall progress according to normal years of service to Step 7, provided that the Teacher shall immediately progress from any step in Band 1 to Band 2 (Step 8) from the first full pay period on or after 1 February or the first full pay period on or after 1 July in the year the Teacher achieves Proficient Teacher accreditation, whichever date falls first after the Teacher is accredited.
For example: a former Step 10 full-time Proficient Teacher whose service date is 10 March will be classified as Proficient 2 on 1 January 2017.
A provisionally or conditionally accredited Teacher and a Proficient Teacher with less than two years’ full-time equivalent service will be classified as Graduate.
The Employer will support the Graduate Teacher to obtain accreditation at the Proficient Teacher level, which will include participation in an orientation and/ or induction program, providing regular feedback, and may include providing a mentor teacher and other measures that the Employer may deem appropriate.
An Employee’s appointment to Band 4 is dependent on the Early Childhood Teacher accreditation level and the requisite years of experience since attaining Proficient Teacher or equivalent.
