Redevelopment zone means areas on the west side of Aquidneck Island that have been specifically designated for high density development by the local municipality or the state. Many parcels within this zone have been identified by the West Side Master Plan as growth centers. This zone also incorporates large parcels within the Aquidneck Island SAMP boundary that were formerly used by the U.S. Navy for fuel or materials storage and are therefore constrained by the existence of utility corridors, and/or the need for site remediation prior to residential or commercial development.
