Residential crisis services means crisis services that are provided to a recipient admitted to an alternative, state-licensed site approved by the commissioner, because the ICF/DD receiving reimbursement under this section is not able, as determined by the commissioner, to provide the intervention and protection of the recipient and others living with the recipient that is necessary to prevent the recipient from requiring placement in a more restrictive institutional setting.

Residential crisis services means intensive mental health and support services that are provided to a child or adult with a mental illness who is experiencing, or is at risk of, a psychiatric crisis that would impair his/her ability to function in the community; designed to prevent or shorten a psychiatric inpatient admission; provided out of the individual’s residence on a short-term basis in a community-based residential setting; and provided by entities licensed by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to provide residential crisis services.
