Source area means either the location of the release from an UST, the location of free product, the location of the highest soil and groundwater concentration of chemicals of concern, or the location of a soil concentration of chemicals of concern which may continue to impact groundwater or surface water.

Source area or "source" means a portion of a site or area of concern at a site where the investigation has identified a discrete area of soil, soil vapor, sediment, surface water or groundwater containing contaminants in sufficient concentrations to migrate in that medium, or to release significant levels of contaminants to another environmental medium, which could result in a threat to public health or the environment. A source area typically includes, but is not limited to, a portion of a site where a substantial quantity of any of the following are present:

Source area means the total coal reserve areas outlined in the Specific Location Map(s) provided with the Term Coal Proposal; provided, that, within the Source Area, only the area(s), for surfaced-mined coal, or mine opening(s), for underground-mined coal, covered by the mining permit(s) listed in the Term Coal Proposal is an "Authorized Source" of coal for delivery under this contract.
