Abandonment of Position. 22.1 An employee who is absent from duty without authorization for a period of two (2) weeks or longer may be declared to have abandoned his or her position. 22.2 Prior to declaring an employee to have abandoned his or her position, the Employer shall make reasonable efforts to: (a) contact the employee to determine the reasons for absence without authorization; and (b) notify the employee of the consequences of absence without authorization; and (c) copy the Association on the notice to the employee described in (b) above.
