Bridging of Service. If a regular employee resigns after the signing of this Agreement as a result of a decision to care for a dependent child or dependent children, spousal illness or disability, or an aging parent and is re- employed, upon application she shall be credited with length of service accumulated at time of termination for the purpose of benefits based on service seniority. The following conditions shall apply:
(a) the employee must have been a regular employee with at least three (3) years of service seniority at time of termination;
(b) the resignation must indicate the reason for termination;
(c) the break in service shall be for no longer than six (6) years;
(d) the previous length of service shall not be reinstated until successful completion of the probation period on re-employment.
Bridging of Service. If a regular employee terminates as a result of a decision to care for a dependent parent, spouse or child, and is re-employed, upon application they shall be credited with length of service accumulated at time of termination for the purposes of benefits based on service seniority. The following conditions shall apply:
(a) the employee must have been a regular employee with at least two years of service seniority at time of termination;
(b) the resignation must indicate the reason for termination;
(c) the break in service shall be for no longer than six years;
(d) the previous length of service shall not be reinstated until successful completion of the probationary period on re-employment. Former employees who meet the conditions outlined above will have in-service status when applying for re-employment, and shall, for the purpose of the selection process, be credited with points for the years of continuous service accumulated to the effective date of termination.
Bridging of Service. A Regular Nurse with more than three (3) years Service may terminate her or his employment as a result of a decision to raise a child and if re-employed with the Employer shall retain service recognition provided that:
(a) The Nurse must advise the Employer in writing that the reason for the termination of employment is to raise a child.
(b) If the Nurse is re-employed as a Regular Nurse within two (2) years of her or his termination date, she or he will have the previous Service with the Employer recognized as at the date of termination for the purposes of placement on the appropriate level on the increment scale as set out in Article 8.00 and vacation accrual rate as set out in Article 10.00 (a), (b), and (c).
(c) No Service, Seniority, or benefits will accumulate during the period of termination to raise a child. Seniority shall be counted up to the leave and after the leave.
(d) The Nurse cannot have been employed by any other employer for anytime during this period. If so employed the Nurse shall not be entitled to the benefits of this provision.
Bridging of Service. If a regular employee terminates as a result of a decision to raise a dependent child or children residing with the employee, and is subsequently re-employed, upon application, she shall be credited with length of service accumulated at the time of termination. The following conditions shall apply:
(a) The employee must have completed three (3) years of service with the employer.
(b) The resignation must indicate that the reason for termination is to raise a dependent child or children.
(c) The break in service shall be for no longer than three (3) years, and during that time the employee must not have been engaged in remunerative employment for more than six (6) months cumulative.
(d) This bridging of service will apply to an employee who is employed at a health organization party to this agreement and applies for and receives a regular position in the same health organization.
(e) The employee must serve a three (3) month probationary period.
(f) An employee returning to work under this clause shall retain her former increment level and years of service for vacation purposes.

If a regular employee terminates after August 1, 1979, as a result of a decision to raise a dependent child or dependent children, and is re-employed, upon application he/she shall be credited with length of service accumulated at time of termination for the purposes of benefits based on service seniority. The following conditions shall apply:
(a) the employee must have been a regular employee with at least three (3) years of service seniority at time of termination;
(b) the resignation must indicate the reason for termination;
(c) the break in service shall be for no longer than six (6) years; and during that time the employee must not have been engaged in remunerative employment for more than six (6) months excepting employment with this Employer as an auxiliary;
(d) the previous length of service shall not be reinstated until successful completion of the probationary period on re-employment.
Bridging of Service. If an employee terminates as a result of a decision to care for a dependent parent, spouse or child(ren), and is re-employed, upon application, she shall be credited with length of service accumulated at time of termination for the purposes of benefits based on service seniority. The following conditions shall apply:
(a) the employee must have been an employee with at least two (2) years of seniority at time of termination;
(b) the resignation must indicate the reasons for termination;
(c) the break in service shall be for not longer than six (6) years;
(d) the previous length of service shall not be reinstated until successful completion of the probationary period on re-employment.
Bridging of Service. If a regular employee, who is employed for an Employer as defined in Article 1.02 of the Collective Agreement, terminates as a result of a decision to raise a dependent child or children residing with the employee, and applies for and receives a regular position with the same Employer, she shall be credited with length of service accumulated at the time of termination. The following conditions shall apply:
A) The employee must have completed three (3) years of service with the Employer.
B) The resignation must indicate that the reason for termination is to raise a dependent child or children.
C) The break in service shall be for no longer than three (3) years, and during that time the employee must not have been engaged in remunerative employment for more than six (6) months cumulative.
D) This bridging of service will apply to an employee who is employed by an Employer party to this Agreement and applies for and receives a regular position at the same worksite.
E) The employee must serve a three month probationary period.
F) An employee returning to work under this clause shall retain her former increment level and years of service for vacation purposes.

Bridging of Service. 35:01 A regular employee who resigns as a result of the employee’s decision to raise a dependent child or children, and is re-employed, upon written notification to the Employer shall be credited with the length of service accumulated up to the time of resignation for the purposes of sick leave and long service vacation entitlement benefits as defined in this Agreement and based on service seniority.
(a) The employee must have accumulated at least four (4) years of continuous service at the time of resigning;
(b) The resignation itself must indicate the reason for resigning;
(c) The break in service shall be for no longer than six (6) years, and during that time the employee must not have been engaged in remunerative employment for more than three (3) months;
(d) The previous length of service shall not be reinstated until successful completion of the probationary period;
(e) Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the employee will be credited with the accumulated sick leave credits at the time of the resignation up to a maximum of twenty-six (26) days of credits.
Bridging of Service. Calendar service shall be the basis for determining eligibility for this benefit, i.e. four (4) years.
