Work in Higher Classification Employees working in a higher classification for more than four (4) hours in duration shall be paid at the higher rate of pay for the entire shift.
Higher Classification (a) In the event a classification review results in a position being reclassified at a higher level, the employee presently filling the position shall, if qualified, be assigned to the position at the higher level at a rate of pay which is equal to or higher than his or her current rate of pay.
Promotion to a Higher Classification An employee who is promoted to a higher rated classification within the bargaining unit will be placed in the range of the higher rated classification so that he shall receive no less an increase in wage rate than the equivalent of one step in the wage rate of his previous classification (provided that he does not exceed the wage rate of the classification to which he has been promoted).
VACANCIES, TERM POSITIONS AND NEW POSITIONS 3001 Subject to section 3002 herein, the Employer agrees to post notices of vacant, term or new positions covered under this Agreement for at least seven (7) days to enable nurses presently in the employ of the Employer to apply for same. Such posting shall not preclude the Employer from advertising outside the site premises. All postings shall state minimum qualifications required, the equivalent to full-time (E.F.T.) and date of closing of the competition. Job descriptions shall be available to applicants on request. 3002 The Employer will be required to post a notice of vacancy for only five (5) days for a vacancy that is created by:
Work in a Higher Classification Any employee who is assigned by his/her supervisor to a vacant position in a higher grade for a period of more than thirty (30) days shall receive the salary rate for the higher position from the first day of the appointment, provided such assignment has the prior approval in writing of the Appointing Authority or his/her designee. The approval of the Appointing Authority or his/her designee shall take effect as of the first day of the assignment. Any assignment to a vacant position in a higher grade must be in writing to be valid.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EMPLOYER 1. The Employer agrees to display the following notices supplied by DHS in a prominent place that is clearly visible to prospective employees and all employees who are to be verified through the system:
Classified Service An employee will attain permanent status in the classified service upon completion of a probationary review period. For positions designated in-training, Article 4.2 D will govern when permanent status is attained.
New Job Classifications 11.1 Whenever the Company determines it appropriate to create a new job classification in the bargaining unit, it shall proceed as follows.
CLASSIFICATIONS AND WAGES 1.1 a) Engineers operating: cranes with a manufacturer’s rating of over 164 to 219 tons capacity. Effective May 1, 2013, the wage rate for engineers operating large cranes 220 to 299 tons capacity shall be One Dollar and Twenty-Five Cents ($1.25) per hour above the applicable rate. The wage rate for engineers operating large cranes 300 to 499 tons capacity shall be Two Dollars and Fifty Cents ($2.50) per hour above the applicable rate. SPECIALIZED JOB CLASSES Where there is a particular specialized job class in which the pay rate is below the local market value assessment of that job class, the parties may use existing means under the collective agreement to adjust compensation for that job class.
