Advancement Within a Pay Range. New employees shall receive one (1) step increase after completion of six (6) months’ trial service. Promotional or lateral employees shall receive one (1) step increase after completion of promotional trial service of twelve (12) months. Thereafter, employees will receive a step increase based upon satisfactory completion of one (1) year of continuous employment at the current step in the pay range. The anniversary date for a step increase shall be the first day following completion of one (1) year of employment at the current step in the pay range and annually thereafter until the top step of the range is reached. Any increase in an employee’s rate of pay shall be effective on the first working day immediately following completion of the applicable period of service.
