Common use of Arbitration Committee Clause in Contracts

Arbitration Committee. Should any grievance or complaint arise which cannot be negotiated and settled within the scope of the foregoing paragraphs of this Article, the Employer and the Union agree to submit the matter to the Arbitration Committee to be handled in the following manner: a) In the event a grieving party submits a grievance or dispute to arbitration, an Arbitration Committee shall be selected as follows: The Union representative and the Employer shall each name a representative to the Arbitration Committee within two (2) working days. The two (2) individuals so selected will then name a mutually acceptable third member to the Arbitration Committee, who shall act as Chairman. In the event that the first two (2) members of the Arbitration Committee are unable to agree upon a third member within three (3) working days, the parties shall select an arbitrator by the striking method from a permanent list of Alaska arbitrators previously supplied by the American Arbitration Association.
