ASSIGNMENT, TRANSFER AND VACANCIES. The employmentTo assure that pupils are taught by employees working within their areas of competence, employees shall not be assigned, except in accordance with the regulations of the State Board of Education. Pre-scheduling of classes for the coming school year will be conducted as soon after May 1 as possible, and prior to the last day of school, for grades K-12. This prescheduling will be conducted to improve staffing, staff preparation, and equalization and distribution of students in classes. Returning employees shall be notified of their initial teaching assignment and direction and management of all employees for the following year by the last student day before summer break. Such written notice shall include any changes in assignment, program or schedule, as well as any special assignment. Assignment may be changed due to vacancies caused by resignation after that date, or other reasons which are beyond the control of the District is and which require such change. Such changes shall not be the exclusive right and responsibility of the Board of Directors normal practice of the District. The District will have date the right to hireresignation is accepted by the Board, assign at either a special Board meeting or at the next regular Board meeting, shall be the official resignation date for purpose of this section. The Board shall not withhold action on a resignation. In the event that a change in assignment and/or schedule change is necessary during the summer break, the administration shall arrange for a conference with the affected employees. As to employees who desire a transfer or reassignment, the following procedures shall be used:
1. The employee shall send a letter to the Superintendent by February 15, which shall be kept on file by the District.
2. The Superintendent or his designee shall notify each employee when a position is open. In the event a secondary employee is transferred, assigned to teach a new subject, programand has not taught the subject within the last five (5) years, or course and other pertinent information including a statement of employee rights/options, concerning the assignment.
4. An employee who is involuntarily transferred will have the first right of return to his/her previous position, if it becomes available prior to the first student day.
5. No said employee will be involuntarily transferred more than one time in a paid three (3) year period.
B. Certificated employees who are directed hours per new subject assigned at per diem. Elementary teachers assuming a new grade level for the above stated reasons will be paid one full day at per diem. An assignment to change classrooms will be granted up to two (2) days of pay at the curriculum rate. The district will provide boxes, tape, and moving assistance. Additional days may be approved as needed under extraordinary circumstances.

ASSIGNMENT, TRANSFER AND VACANCIES. The employmentA. Employee Assignment
1. Employees shall be assigned by the Superintendent in accordance with regulations and laws of the State of Washington, assignment State Board of Education, the administrative procedures of the District, and direction the District Affirmative Action Plan.
2. All employees presently employed will be given written notice of their specific assignments, and management of all employees room assignments for the forthcoming year not later than July, subject however to changes by the Superintendent subsequent to such written notice made necessary by changing needs of the District is as identified by the exclusive right Superintendent.
B. Vacancies, Voluntary Transfers and responsibility Reassignments
1. The Superintendent or designee shall post in all school buildings a notice of any vacancies as they occur during the school year. Employees who desire to fill such vacancies shall file a written statement of such intent with the Superintendent within fifteen (15) calendar days of such notification. Such statement will include all information concerning the teacher's qualifications of the Board position applied for.
2. In order to provide employees an opportunity to be considered for filling vacancies occurring during the summer recess, employees interested in such considerations shall, prior to the conclusion of Directors the school year, advise their building principal in writing through District Administrative procedures, of their preferences for filling vacancies should they occur. The employee's request should specify grade level/ subject area, and building. If a vacancy occurs during the summer break, employees who have specifically requested such position will be contacted in writing when the vacancy occurs indicating that the employee was considered for that position.
3. The Superintendent shall, based on his/her determination of the needs of the District, make all decisions concerning assignments to fill vacancies or effect transfers and reassignments. The District will have In filling vacancies, the right Superintendent shall consider the qualifications and then the preferences of every volunteer for such positions, but Superintendent’s decision shall be in his/her discretion and shall not be subject to hiregrievance or arbitration.
4.
