Boiling Points Differences. Two liquids which do not form a constant boiling point mixture and have widely separated boiling points can be separated by fractional distillation using a simple fractionating column. The boiling points must be at least 25 °C apart. For high boiling mixtures this can be done under reduced pressure, preferably under nitrogen if the compound decomposes.
