Bridging of Service. If a regular employee resigns after the signing of this agreement as a result of a decision to care for a dependent child or dependent children, spousal illness or disability, or an aging parent and is re-employed with their former employer, upon application they will be credited with length of service accumulated at time of resignation for the purpose of benefits based on service seniority. The following conditions will apply: the employee must have been a regular employee with at least two years of service seniority at time of resignation; the employee is able to demonstrate the reason for the resignation; the break in service will be for no longer than six years; the previous length of service will not be reinstated until successful completion of the probation period on re-employment.
